The Weekend Epicure

This pie is good to go all year round. I have served it at luncheons and intimate dinner parties with great success.    Not a very difficult recipe, and can be made in advance for a holiday party or family dinner. You can substitute white chocolate or mint-chocolate morsels for the semi-sweet chocolate morsels if desired for your own spin. Top with sweeten whipped cream.

Chocolate-Walnut Pie
8 servings

Equipment: standard 1½ -inch-deep 9-inch pie plate.
½ (15-oz.) package refrigerated pie crusts
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
½ cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup chopped walnuts
½ cup margarine, melted
¾ cup semisweet chocolate morsels
1. Preheat oven to 350°. Fit piecrust into a 9-inch pie plate according to package directions; fold edges under, and crimp.
2. Stir together sugar and next 4 ingredients until well blended; stir in walnuts and chocolate. Pour filling into piecrust.                                                                                                                                                    3. Bake at 350° on lowest oven rack for 30 minutes or until pie is set; cool on a wire rack.
